Hen Party

On Saturday we had enormous fun hosting our very first vintage tea-style hen party at the Flower Garden.  Twentyfour very elegantly dressed ladies wafted in through the gate and arranged themselves happily in our assorted deckchairs and basket chairs to chatter and laugh and eat lots of home made cakes.  The very brave among them even tasted some of  Barney's own brew country wines, after which they quickly became very relaxed and jolly...   Bunting came out that was last used for Henry's first birthday, and first made for an Easter party that we gave when we lived in Shanghai.  We also cranked up another old favourite: the crackly gramophone, which gave a decidedly nostalgic and carefree air to the afternoon, as the dulcet tones of Dean Martin and his contemporaries washed over the flower-scented garden.
