Late Springness

The amelanchier blossom is in bloom and it is the sign that the season is about to rattle away out of our grasp. All kinds of nice things are emerging in the garden now: spring snowflakes, geum, dainty little striped pansies and the fat bulgy seedy centres of hellebores as they bloat and ripen, perfect for picking. We’ve been making up bunches to send by post and filling little vases for a medieval film set, and gathering tiny white eggs from our chickens, and generally revelling in the glory of things.
